ChildVoice cares about sound. Specifically, we care about restoring the voices of children silenced by war. Reverberated sound, or more simply “reverb,” moves from its source, finding a way through and taking on new characteristics as it adjusts to obstacles and the texture of the surrounding environment.
You want to see the things you are passionate about continue after you are gone. You care that the programs you have invested in continue to grow and develop and be relevant in a changing world. Like sound waves, you want to see your influence continue to reverberate and make a difference in future generations.
What is ReVerb?
ReVerb is ChildVoice’s planned giving program that provides a way for you to commit to give directly to ChildVoice, maximizing your tax and other financial benefits. Outright Gifts
Cash
Giving cash allows for immediate benefits to ChildVoice, while maximizing your charitable deduction.
Securities
By transferring your securities to ChildVoice, you will receive an immediate income tax deduction for the value of the securities on the date of the transfer. In doing this, you have the opportunity to make a significant gift now, or fund a life-income gift to benefit ChildVoice in the future. By donating appreciated securities, it may be possible to avoid the capital gains tax that might be due on sale.
Real Estate
Deeding your home, commercial building, or investment property to ChildVoice allows you to receive an income tax deduction for the fair market value of the real estate, while paying no capital gains tax on the transfer. ChildVoice will in turn sell the property or use it for its own purposes.
Personal Property
Donating property such as equipment or artwork will receive an immediate tax deduction for the appraised value of the item. ChildVoice will either use the property or sell it and use to proceeds for its programs.
Estate Gifts
Bequests
Including ChildVoice in your will or trust allows you to provide now for a future gift. Understanding that your heirs take priority, this option allows you to direct assets both to them and direct a bequest to ChildVoice for the purposes you specify. In doing this, your assets remain in your control during your lifetime as you direct your bequest to a particular purpose. Your bequest can be modified at any time if your circumstances change. Furthermore, there is no upper limit on the estate tax deductions that can be taken for charitable bequests. In choosing this option, you can have the satisfaction now of knowing that you will be supporting ChildVoice in the way you intended when you are gone.
Gift of Retirement Assets
By naming ChildVoice as the beneficiary of your IRA, 401(k) or other qualified plan, any residual left in your plan after you are gone passes to ChildVoice tax-free. While continuing to take withdrawals during your lifetime, you will feel secure knowing that you will escape both income and estate tax levied on the residual left in your account. You can elect to change your beneficiary at any time if your circumstances change. In choosing this option, you will have the satisfaction of knowing that your hard-earned retirement assets will support ChildVoice in the way you intended when you are gone.
Gifts in Partnership with ChildVoice
Charitable Lead Trusts
After contributing cash, securities or other property to a lead trust, the trust will begin to make fixed annual payments to ChildVoice for a specified term of years. When that trust ends, the remaining principal will go to your heirs. In doing this, the present value of the income payments to ChildVoice reduced your gift/estate tax, and all appreciation that takes place in the trust goes tax-free to your heirs. You will have the benefit of knowing that the amount and term of payments to ChildVoice can be set so as to reduce or even eliminate transfer taxes due when the principal reverts to your heirs. Through this contribution, you will have the satisfaction of making a significant gift to ChildVoice now that will reduce the taxes due on transfers to your heirs later.
Charitable Remainder Trusts
Much like charitable lead trusts in the transferring of cash, securities or other appreciated property to a trust, this option then allows the trust to begin making fixed annual payments to you or to anyone you name. When the trust ends, the principal passes to ChildVoice. The benefits include receiving an immediate income tax deduction for a portion of your contribution to the trust, while paying no capital gains tax on any appreciated assets you donate. You or your designated beneficiaries will receive a stable, predictable income for life or a term of years while having the satisfaction of making a significant gift that will benefit ChildVoice later.
